Sergio Juan “Vanny” Lub

Febuary 4th, 1953 - January 8th, 2024

With tender hearts, the Lub family announces the passing of their beloved patriarch Sergio. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2003, Sergio managed to squeeze twenty more years to their fullest advantage, before succumbing to the stars on Monday, January 8th, 2024. His immediate family was by his side, as they listened to Louis Armstrong sing "What a Wonderful World.” A true Renaissance man, Sergio was visited by many of his closest friends and family members from around the world during his final weeks and was able to experience an outpouring of love and memories from a  socially, politically, and progressively active life well lived. A special tribute page has been created (LifeOfSergio.com), to which his family invites all who were touched by Sergio’s presence to contribute to his memory with their own stories and photos. A memorial is in the works, for late spring in Napa Valley, which the Lubs have called home for 40 years.

SERGIO’S LIFE

“A curious person in the late 20th Century is also a very busy person. New worlds are opening up to us so quickly that it is becoming impossible to keep track. Computers and faster communication has helped us more or less cope until now, but the beat is accelerating.”
— Sergio Lub

“Each of us operates inside a box that defines our accepted reality. For many, our box starts when we are born and lasts until we die. Those who believe in past lives and reincarnation live in a much larger box. I am wired in a way that highly enjoys exploring outside my box.”

— Sergio Lub
